Languages -> Replace Content with Unpublished Version

Using the languages gadget, you can pick a secondary language and indicate that you would like to replace the content for it with the primary language version. e.g. Languages -> Replace Content -> Duplicate English Content.

When you do this, it uses the currently published version.  We prefer for all of our translations to go live at the same time, so when we have content that is marked as ready to publish in English, we would like to be able to use that version rather than the currently published version when replacing the content in the other language.

Example of desired timeline:

  • P1 is an existing page that is published in (en, es) languages.
  • Create v2 of P1 (en).
  • QA and mark P1 (en) as ready to publish.
  • Would like to use languages gadget on P1 (es) -> Replace Content -> Duplicate English Content and pull in the content that was newly created in v2.
  • Make and QA translations and mark P1 (es) as ready to publish.
  • Publish P1 -> Results in all translations going live at same time.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be support for using unpublished versions as sources of translated content.

Are we missing anything, or does anyone have a workaround that would help us take the content for all languages live together after being QA'd that doesn't involve completely re-entering the content?

Thanks!
