BUG: Image Editor Crop selecting incorrect crop on larger images.

Vote:

If the content editor attempts a crop on an image that exceeds the width of the crop area  (~660 pixels on HD, 843 pixels on 4k) then the incorrect crop is applied to the image.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Upload an image that exceeds the width of the image editor crop window
    • In my test this was a 1920 x 1280 image
    • My client raised this on a 1920 x 650 image
  • Select a crop that is a distance from the top & left of the image
  • Click on Apply
  • Note that the incorrect crop is applied

The client can work around this if they do the following:

  • Set the zoom so that the image preview is smaller than the crop area
  • Select the area of the image you want to crop
  • Apply the crop
  • Set the zoom back to 100%
    • The crop is respected and you have the full size
  • Save the file as a new image

Here is a kitten being cropped incorrectly :)

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for the link to the previously reported issue.  I think the key missing information for reproducing the issue is the width of the image exceeding the width of the crop container.  I'll update that thread and link back here too.
