Tracking a Resellers involvement in a sales

Want to create a easy way of tracking resellers/partner in a sales flow.

My idea is to create a coupon and thru that one track if a reseller has been involved in the order. There is no discount involved. Only a way of tracking if that specific reseller has been a part of the sales.

Then by tracking usage of resellers specific coupons and what orders they were used on create a kick-back report.

Suppose this needs some custom builds to fix it (haven’t found any solution for it in standard discounts), our is there any shorts cuts to do to accomplish this?
