404 Issue for Home page only
1. Check that your path to template for home.aspx is correct. It's trying to find it in /templates/pages/home.aspx but failing. Did you move it or renamed something?
2. Make sure that your path for 404 is set correctly. Looks like it's trying to find /en/404notfound.aspx but failing which give a 404 = infinite loop. Either use a static error page like /404.html or use the correct path to an episerver page like /en/[urlsegment]. I guess you have the path to your 404 page in Web.config. Check that it's actually going to a working 404 page.

The template is set correctly and when I preview the 404 page from edit mode to a front end mode it works correctly.

Check if you have any content in recycle bin that is used by start page. That can generate pretty funny errors. If it works from edit mode when you are logged in but not on public site when you are logged out, that is often the reason.
I also recommend using static html pages for error pages to avoid issues like above. Turning off Episerver global error handling in sitesettings and using.Net default custom errors Web.config section can get rid of the redirects hopefully.

Hi,
I have a website in EPiServer CMS 6 R2.
After deploying to staging environment, home page is causing 404 error and giving issue of too many redirects.
All the internal pages are working.
When I hit home page URL, it gets a big URL and ultimately resutls in too many redirects error.
