Could you make some methods virtual?

Could you please make the methods in LanguageManager virtual so its possible to use that the Current set method?

Short answer - no.
The reason is that we will break binary compatibility by changing methods to virtual. What we can do is to implement a few new, virtual, methods and let the old ones delegate to the new methods. No promises - the schedule for CMS 6 is pretty tight, but I'll look into it.
