CMS5.1: Problem with IE and pagetree with large number of subpages.

Hello,
The problem occurs in EPiServer edit mode. If page contains large number of subpages (for instance more than 1000), pagtree creation is veeery slow. What is more, amount of memory used by Internet Exlplorer during processing this part of the pagetree is getting really big. Is there any way to avoid that? In this case, pagetree created on the server side after postback may be solution, because javascript can't handle such situation. Any ideas?

IE6 javascript engine has room for improvement, which will improve the results. This is an old post, a quick test under IE 7 should show dramatic improvement. There is a hotfix for IE6 here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919237
