Using "Fetch data from..." with FileListing

When using a page template based on FileListing.ascx I have noticed the following:
When you use "Fetch data from page in EPiServer" the sort order from the source page is ignored on the target page, although that property is blank.
Does that property type always have a value, even if the blank option is selected?
