Pop-ups don't work in Edit Mode when editors access it under SSL

When our editors are on an SSL page, if they go into Edit Mode, they will be under Edit Mode as SSL.

When this happens, no pop-up dialogs work.  So when they go to add a link to a link collection or something, clicking the boxes does nothing.  The Firebug console has reported back something about not wanting to open a non-SSL browser window from an SSL browser window.  Apparently the dialogs open as "http" while the edit panel is "https," and Firefox doesn't like this.

Is there some workaround for this?  Is this EPiServer specific, or is this more general than that?

Hello Deane

I have a client that runs edit mode under SSL and it works fine (on CMS 5 R2). We have a custom module that explicitly checks the URL of each request and 302 redirects onto SSL if the requires it. This also works when serving up javascript resources so seems to keep IE/FF happy. For edit mode we are specifically looking for URLs that start with "/[your episerver UI folder", "/util" and "/App_Themes".
