Selecting form data in edit mode tab

I would like to be able to select (or sort) data from a form based on criteria from one of the form fields (i.e. name) and not only by date submitted. The selection (sorting) should be done in the edit mode's "Form data" tab for further exporting to Excel.
Has anyone done this or is it a feature request?
