Block field will not update

Hello,

I have a field in a block type called PageSize, and it is an integer that you can select up or down arrows to increase or decrease its value. I set it to '5' for one of my blocks in the CMS, and when I step through the code, this block did not update the value. I have other blocks with the same exact block types and changing the PageSize value does update in my code. I have no idea why for one of them it is not updating. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I wasn't pressing "publish" I was just pressing "save". Sometimes save was enough, but publish seemed to do the trick. Wondering why sometimes save works and sometimes it doesn't.
