Vote:

Hi,

Is filtering/facets possible in epi-server in inbuilt search? What was the level of that?

Actually , in my site clients need filter/sort the serach by document , pages and links.

Is it possible with this inbuilt serach or need Epi-Find or Elastic?

Is there easy API availabel for Autocomplete and Instance search in this search engine?

Thanks

Abhi

Hi Abhishek,

This is what is offered in search: https://world.episerver.com/documentation/developer-guides/CMS/search/

Yes, it does offer static faceting. You can search on categories and content types, and define which category and type facets you want to filter. However, there are some limitations with built-in search like it doesn't index blocks in the content areas and also doesn't have autocomplete baked in (both these are available with Epi FIND).

The recommendation usually by Epi is to move to Episerver FIND. It's a cloud based service with a lot of in-built features like analytics, autocomplete, auto-boosting, best bets, geo-search and a lot more. You can look up all that information online.

(+ Aniket) Built-in search is Luscent based search. If your site is setup in load balanced enviornments then you need to consider infrastructure also. Filter is explained https://world.episerver.com/documentation/developer-guides/CMS/search/Searching-and-filtering/

If Client is happy to bear license cost of EPiServer Find then that is the best way to proceed with Search. You will find all your answers

It's 5000 total items (including pages, documents etc.). If I am not wrong, Connections (S, M, L) is cloud based v/s the other is on-premise service.

You can reach out to Episerver sales contact listed on this page and they will be happy to guide you through the process.
