Introduction
This document describes how to install EPiServer Commerce and the EPiServer Commerce sample template package (optional) for EPiServer CMS 6 R2. Installation of EPiServer Commerce 1 R2 SP1 is performed through the EPiServer Deployment Center. NOTE that this installation from Deployment Center only supports an upgrade from version 1.0 SP1 to 1 R2 SP1. To upgrade from version 1 R2 to 1 R2 SP1, please follow the upgrading instructions for EPiServer Commerce 1 R2 SP1.
It is recommend to install EPiServer Commerce on an empty EPiServer CMS site, without the Alloy Technologies sample templates installed. It is also recommended to define the EPiServer Commerce License during the installation, but if this was not done it can be added manually after the installation, please refer to the configuration section of the EPiServer Commerce 1 R2 SP1 Developer Guide.
Installing EPiServer Commerce
In the following we will describe the installation procedure for EPiServer Commerce.
Prerequisites
The following is required to install EPiServer Commerce for EPiServer CMS 6 R2:
- An EPiServer CMS site version 6 R2 - download and install the core files for EPiServer CMS.
- ASP.NET MVC 2.0.
- Administrative access rights.
- Web Deployment Tool installed.
- Check the system requirements to verify that the technical requirements are fulfilled before you install.
- Also, you need to add the path to the SQLCMD.EXE in the path environment variable in Windows. Otherwise the setup will not find your SQLCMD.
- It is recommended to have license files for both EPiServer CMS and EPiServer Commerce available for definition during th installation.
Installation
- Download and launch the EPiServer Commerce.msi file. Click Next.
- Click Install to begin the installation, click Finish to finalize the installation and launch the EPiServer Deployment Center (if this is not done automatically).
- From Deployment Center there are two options to install:
- Under the Quick Links tab, select the EPiServer CMS 6 R2 site where you want to install EPiServer Commerce, and click Install EPiServer Commerce 1.1 in the right-hand section.
- Under the All Actions tab, expand the appropriate EPiServer CMS 6 R2 version, and select Install EPiServer Commerce 1.1 under Modules and click Run. - In Step 1 of the installation, make sure the EPiServer Commerce core and Install Commerce Manager check-boxes are selected. The Install Catalog Page Provider option must also be checked if you plan to install the EPiServer Commerce sample templates.
NOTE that you will need an EPiServer CMS 6 Professional License in order to use the Page Provider. Click Next. - In Step 2, enter the database settings information:
- Windows Authentication will be used as default for the installer authentication in the upper part of the dialog. You can use SQL Server Authentication but then you must have an existing account with roles setup(public, setupadmin, sysadmin).
- Make sure that SQL Server Authentication is selected for the EPiServer Commerce Manager authentication in the lower part of the dialog. Enter a Login and Password for the SQL database authentication here.
NOTE that the database name must not duplicate with existing databases on the database server. EPiServer Commerce always uses a default port of the database server even if you enter a Port value.
Click Next to continue - In Step 3, enter the following information:
- Name: the name of the Commerce Manager site (add your own site name here).
- Path: the physical folder root path that Commerce Manager will be installed to.
Click Next to continue. - In Step 4, enter a path for the EPiServer Commerce Manager Shared Files Folder, by default the site name defined earlier will be used.
- In Step 5, select to install the Quartz Service (optional). Click Next to continue.
- In Step 6, define the EPiServer Commerce license file to use. This is optional here, but is recommended to avoid problems when accessing the site after the installation.
- In the final step the installation is summarized. Confirm the installation and click Install to continue.
- When the installation is finalized, the site can be accessed using the path and login details provided under the installation. NOTE that the site has no templates at this point. Continue by installing the EPiServer Commerce sample templates, or templates of your own choice.
Installing the EPiServer Commerce Sample Templates
Installing the sample templates is optional. The predefined templates are provided as a way to quickly get your e-commerce site up and running, displaying examples of how you can customize and work with EPiServer Commerce.
Prerequisites
The following is required to install the EPiServer Commerce sample templates:
- An installation of EPiServer Commerce 1.1 core files (see the beginning of this document).
Installation
- Download and launch the EPiServer Commerce.msi file. Click Next.
- Click Install to begin the installation, click Finish to finalize the installation and launch the EPiServer Deployment Center (if this is not done automatically).
- In Deployment Center under the All Actions tab, expand the appropriate EPiServer CMS 6 R2 version, select Install EPiServer Commerce 1.1 Sample under Modules and click Run.
- In Step 1 of the installation, select the features you want to install:
- Application files: application files for the sample templates (required).
- Import product catalog: the sample product catalog (optional).
- Contents and page types: the sample page types, pages and content (optional).
- Sample payments (DIBS and PayPal): the DIBS and PayPal Express payment providers (optional).
Click Install to continue. - Select the target site where you want to install the sample templates. NOTE that the site must have the EPiServer Commerce core files installed.
- The installer will install the items you have selected. When finalized, click Close.
First Time Login
IMPORTANT When you install EPiServer Commerce, you are provided with a default account with the following credentials: Username - admin; Password - store. This is used to login both to the EPiServer CMS store site and the Commerce Manager back-end system. It is highly recommended that you change this password when implementing your site! This Admin Account is given full privileges, meaning it is full access to all systems and all elements within each sub-system.
Do the following to access the EPiServer Commerce site for the first time:
- Browse to the EPiServer Commerce site previously created and click on the Log in link
- Enter your login details and you will be logged in to the website. To access Commerce Manager, either select Commerce Manager in the top menu of the EPiServer CMS site, or browse to the Commerce Manager site created previously in this installation. See the section below for more information on how to proceed from here.
Next Steps - Configuration
The basic configuration for EPiServer Commerce is taken care of during the installation procedure, but some additional configuration may still be needed depending on what functionality will be included in your EPiServer Commerce solution. The post-installation configurations concerns for instance the import/export function, SMTP for email and setting up accounts for different payment providers. All of this is described in more detail in the Configuration section of the EPiServer Commerce 1 R2 SP1 Developer Guide.
Payment Providers
When you install the EPiServer Commerce sample site, you can choose to include payment providers PayPal and/or DIBS. These will then be included in the installation, and all you need to do is to configure the accounts for these payment providers in Commerce Manager. These configurations are described in the Configuration section of the EPiServer Commerce 1 R2 SP1 Developer Guide.
Klarna and DataCash are also available as payment providers for EPiServer Commerce.
