Load Balancing
There are lots of customers running load-balancing with two or more web servers and a database behind. But the one I talked to (including our own hosting) say the same thing: Avoid NLB if possible, use a hardware load-balancer instead that understands HTTP traffic.

Load balancing is really scale-out, you can also do scale-up by investing in multi-processor machines which also give you a good performace boost.

Does anyone of you have tips regarding Load Balancing an EPiServer-solution, or load balancing in general? We are building a website that occasionally will have a pretty big load. We are thinking about, in these occasions, scaling up the solution with a second front-end webserver, using only one database server. Does this sound reasonable or is there a better way? Is Microsoft NLB a good enough tool for "spreading out the requests" on the two servers or which one do you recommend? After reading on EPiServer World I understand that when scaling up a solution we have to consider synchronization of the cache between the servers. Is that easy to set up and does it work? Any other things we have to consider?
