I'm exploring the alternatives for installing a template package on a default installation of EPiServer. So far none of the alternatives offered seems to give me what I want so I thought I'd ask here and see if I've missed something and if there are other alternatives (besides building your own) that I've missed.

1. Module

As far as I can tell you can't add files outside the directory the web site is installed in. For my scenario I'd like to add another project which would be placed at the same directory level as the web project.

2. Integrating with deployment center

This would give me more freedom since you can run powershell scripts etc but I can't find any information (besides reflector) if you can or should use this as an alternative. 

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
