INFO: EPiServer Scheduler and schedules tasks in a load balanced enviroment

Due to many questions to support regarding running scheduled tasks with EPiServer Scheduler in a load balanced enviroment (servers sharing one database), here are some tips. EPiServer has a built-in mechanism for running scheduled jobs, so the job only will be executed only once. But the mechanism don't tell which server to run the job, server1 can run the job once and then server2. To take control of execution the following can be done. Add a new line inn web.config on the slave site(s): This key disables the execution of the scheduler on the specified site. Another way is to stop / uninstall the scheduler on the slave site(s). This will generate messages in the event log ("EPiServer can't contact the scheduler"), but as long as the master site is running the service there will be no problems. /Øyvind W.
