Installation Instructions - EPiServer Composer 3.2.5

 

NOTE From version 3.2.5 RC1, Extension X3 is renamed to EPiServer Composer. We are currently updating the information to display the new name, but please be aware that the old name may still appear in some places, especially in the software.

Prerequisites

Installing EPiServer Composer 3.2.5 

  1. Download and run the EPiServer Composer 3.2.5.msi .zip file on your computer.
      
  2. Start the EPiServer Deployment Center. The EPiServer Deployment Center can be found in the EPiServer folder on the Start/All programs menu.
      
  3. Expand the EPiServer CMS version for which you want to install EPiServer Composer (5.2.375.133), chose what you want to install, and then click “Run”.
     
      
      
    What you select depends on what you already have on your site. To run EPiServer Composer 3.2.5, you will need EPiServer CMS 5 with the Public Templates, EPiServer Composer 3.2.5 and the EPiServer Composer 3.2.5 Sample Package.
     
    If you already have an EPiServer CMS 5 site with public templates, you will only need to install EPiServer Composer and the EPiServer Composer sample package. Start by chosing "Install EPiServer Composer 3.2.5", then repeat steps 3-6 and install the EPiServer Composer Sample package.
     
    If you don't have an EPiServer CMS 5 site, you will first need to install this and the public templates by chosing "Install site and SQL Server database". Then continue installing EPiServer Composer 3.2.5 and EPiServer Composer 3.2.5 Sample package.
      
  4. The module files will be installed, and the EPiServer Composer (Extension) page types will be imported. Click "Next" to continue the installation.


        
  5. Select the Web site where you want to install EPiServer Composer (Extension), click "Install" to complete the installation
      

     
  6. The installation will be completed. Click "Close" when finalized.
       

      
  7. In order to install the EPiServer Composer 3.2.5 Sample package, repeat steps 3-6 and this time you chose "Install EPiServer Composer 3.2.5 Sample package".
      

        

Setting up and Configuring EPiServer Composer 3.2.5

  1. After the installation, locate the ComposerSampleTemplates Project and build it in Visual Studio.
     
  2. Login to the site, switch to Admin mode and go to “Config/Plug-in manager/Dropit.Extension” and set the Root page ID to the [Extension data Container] page.
     
  3. In Admin mode, go to "Tools/ Composer - Import/Export" and do an import. The file to import is named “ComposerSampleTemplatesData.xml” and is located in the setup folder in the installed site (by default c:\EPiServer\Sites\[yoursitename]\Setup).
